Photographs made where the light finds you

I travel to mountain passes, cold coastlines and quiet farmland to photograph elopements, portraits and the people behind small travel brands — unposed, unhurried, and finished by hand.

How I work

One photographer, one long day, no direction you have to remember

I shoot in the light that exists. That means we plan the day around the hour the valley goes gold, not around a shot list.

Most of what I photograph happens while nobody is looking at me — a jacket being buttoned against the wind, a laugh that lands halfway up a trail, the quiet ten minutes after the ceremony when the two of you finally sit down. I keep the camera close and the instructions few. When a frame genuinely needs shaping I will say so in a sentence, then step back.

Every gallery is edited by hand in a warm, slightly grainy palette that holds skin tones honestly. No presets applied in bulk, no skies replaced, no bodies altered.

Selected frames

Six frames from the last two seasons

A working sample rather than a highlight reel — these are the kinds of pictures that fill a full gallery.

Sessions

Three ways to book

Each one covers travel within the region I am already working in that month. Anything further is quoted plainly before you commit.

01 — Elopement

The whole day, quietly

For two people getting married somewhere that takes effort to reach.

  • Around 400–700 edited images plus the film scans
  • Gallery delivered in five weeks; twelve favourites within three days
  • Permit guidance for park and trailhead ceremonies

02 — Portrait

Ninety minutes outdoors

Couples, families, solo sittings and anyone marking something worth keeping.

  • One location within an hour of the coast or the foothills
  • Wardrobe and colour notes sent when you book
  • 60–90 edited images, all usable, no near-duplicates
  • Gallery delivered in two weeks

A day on location

What it actually feels like

We meet early, walk further than you expect, and stop when the light stops.

I arrive with a small kit: two bodies, three primes, a film camera in the bag and no lighting stands to trip over. There is no assistant asking you to hold still. Most sessions are a conversation with a few pauses in it, and the pictures come out of those pauses.

If the weather turns, we keep going. Rain on a windscreen, fog swallowing a ridge and a borrowed coat over someone's shoulders have all made better frames than a clear afternoon ever did.

Process

From first message to finished gallery

  1. Step 01

    You write

Tell me the date, the rough location and what you are hoping for. I reply within two working days with availability and a plain quote.

  2. Step 02

    We plan the light

Once the date is held, you get a simple timing plan: when the sun clears the ridge, when to start walking, and how long each part really takes.

  3. Step 03

    The shoot

I arrive early, find the angles while you settle, then mostly stay out of the way. Expect walking, weather and very little posing.

  4. Step 04

    Editing and delivery

A short preview goes out within three days. The full gallery arrives on schedule with downloads, a print release and archival storage for two years.

Questions

Before you write

How does travel get charged?

If your date sits inside one of the travel windows above, travel is already covered. Anywhere else, I add flights or mileage and one night of accommodation at cost, listed as a separate line on the quote so you can see exactly what it is. I never mark travel up.

Do I need a second photographer?

Usually not. For elopements and small ceremonies under about thirty guests, one photographer moves faster and feels less intrusive. I suggest a second shooter when there are two locations running at once, or when you want getting-ready coverage in separate places.

What happens if the weather turns?

We shoot anyway. I carry rain covers for the gear and plan a sheltered alternative for every outdoor location during the timing stage. Portrait sessions can be moved once at no cost; for full-day bookings we adjust the running order rather than the date.

Can I have the unedited files?

No, and that is deliberate. The editing is the half of the work that makes the pictures look like mine. You do receive every frame worth keeping, at full resolution, with nothing held back for an upsell.

How long until I see the images?

A preview of around twelve frames lands within three working days. Full galleries take two weeks for portraits, three for brand work and five for elopements. If a season runs long I tell you before you book, not after.

What am I allowed to do with the photographs?

Private bookings include a print release: print at any size, share them anywhere, keep them forever. Brand bookings include a two-year commercial licence covering web, social and print, extendable later. I only use images publicly if you tick the box saying I may.
